Terminology

Definitions of key terms used across the DWERK platform.

Site

A physical location where work is performed and tracked — a building, campus block, floor, or facility unit.

Facility

The broader physical environment that may contain one or more sites.

Shift

The configured window during which staff are expected to be present at a site. Defined by start time, end time, and grace period.

Check-in

The act of a worker recording their presence at a site via the mobile app. Captures GPS coordinates, a selfie photo, and a timestamp.

Check-out

The act of a worker recording their departure from a site. Marks the end of their recorded presence.

Proof

The combination of GPS coordinates, selfie photo, and timestamp that constitutes a verifiable attendance record.

Exception

An operational event that deviates from expected configuration — a missed check-in, late arrival, or coverage gap. Exceptions are classified, tracked, and closed with an audit record.

Supervisor

A role that monitors site-level attendance and conducts roll call. Has authority to classify exceptions at their assigned sites.

Vendor

An external service provider whose workforce operates at a client's sites. Configured by the facility admin. Field staff access is covered under the client plan.

Audit trail

The immutable, append-only record of all operational events. Cannot be edited, deleted, or overwritten.
